In the biological sense, an animal, or human is one that has completely matured. If used in conjunction with human beings, the term "adult" can have meanings that are connected to social or legal notions. Legal adults are those who has reached the age of maturity and can be considered to be independent, self sufficient, and responsible. The word "major" is a term applied to them. The point at which a person turns an adult legally is 18 years old, however the definition of maturity is different based on the legal or country system as well as the state of their mental health.

The period of human development that is when physical and mental maturity has been reached. It usually starts when a person reaches the age of 21. It is generally believed that middle age is around 40 years old. It is then it will be approximately 60 years. The three main stages of adulthood are the early years (from mid-30s to late-60s), middle adulthood from mid-30s to late-60s and later adulthood (mid-60s until the time of death). It is the time of physical maturity is at the time we attain the age of 20 to 40 years old. The size and weight of our bodies can, however, slightly grow. Physical capabilities peak in young adulthood. It includes strength of muscles, reflex time, sensors, and the heart's function.
